Workshop on the role of 5G in autonomous driving and intelligent transport systems

On April 5, 2022, KPN, one of the 5G-Blueprint project partners organized an event on the role of 5G in autonomous driving and intelligent transport systems in Helmond. The event focused on 5G, as the latest telecommunication generation brings a promise of digitalization and a fully connected society. The inspiration for the workshop came from the fact that KPN sees the change anticipated in the automotive sector as perhaps the most profound and spectacular.

During the event, workshops and demonstrations on teleoperation, cooperative collision avoidance, and extended sensors took place, including an insightful talk on KPN’s strategy on connectivity in the mobility sector and a presentation about the 5G-Blueprint project delivered by its Coordinator, Dr. Wim Vandenberghe from the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. In his talk, Dr. Vandenberghe presented the scope and organization of the project and shared insights from the first learnings. The presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session, which allowed participants to learn more about the daily work of the project and its use-cases.
